It all began in the small Ontario town of Orillia back on December 16, 1959 (I love to tell people, that at my tender age of only 49, I have already lived in six different decades!!). Orillia is a city of 31,129 people situated between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe and is about 120 kilometers north of Toronto. Orillia was the inspiration for Stephen Leacock's Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, which poked fun at the characters he met while staying at his cottage on Brewery Bay.
When I was very young, my family—which at the time included Mom (Mary), Dad (Keith) and my younger brother Mark—picked up and moved to the "Big Smoke" and lived in an area of Metropolitan Toronto known as New Toronto, residing at 144 Lake Crescent. We weren't there long before Mom & Dad blew the budget and purchased their first (and only) home on Lakeshore Drive, in what—until the recent creation of the new MegaCity of Toronto—was known as the City of Etobicoke. During that time two more brothers came along (two minutes apart mind you)—twins, Gregory and Bradley.
Growing up I attended 7th Street Public School, from Kindergarten through to Grade 5, and then headed a few blocks east to 2nd Street Secondary School, where I attended grades 6 through 8. I chose to attend Mimico High School and graduated from there in 1979.
In 1972 I became part of an activity which had a profound effect on my life—Drum & Bugle Corps. A greater part of my life to date has been involved in this great and unique activity. You will have to visit my drum corps page for more on this.
My work history has been quite eclectic. I have worked as an editorial assistant for a medical journal, been self-employed as a fitness professional and worked as a graphic designer for the Bank of Montreal. My most recent position was as a web/graphic designer for Rogers Media (The Shopping Channel). Currently I operate my own freelance graphic/web design business—MSG Design Communication.
